Interest earned on such moneys shall remain in the Fund and be credited to it. The <span class=\"dictionary\">Director<\/span> shall assign one <span class=\"dictionary\">person<\/span> in the <span class=\"dictionary\">Department<\/span> to serve as a contact for <span class=\"dictionary\">persons<\/span> interested in the <span class=\"dictionary\">Fund<\/span>; and <a id=\"paragraph-231159\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/10.1-1422.01\/#B2\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"B3\" class=\"indent-1\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">3.<\/span> The operation of public information campaigns to discourage the sale and use of expanded polystyrene products and to promote alternatives to expanded polystyrene. <a id=\"paragraph-231160\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/10.1-1422.01\/#B3\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"C\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">C.<\/span> All moneys deposited into the <span class=\"dictionary\">Fund<\/span> shall be expended pursuant to the following allocation formula: <a id=\"paragraph-231161\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/10.1-1422.01\/#C\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"C1\" class=\"indent-1\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">1.<\/span> Ninety percent for grants made to localities pursuant to subdivision B 1; <a id=\"paragraph-231162\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/10.1-1422.01\/#C1\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"C2\" class=\"indent-1\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">2.<\/span> Up to a maximum of five percent for the actual administrative expenditures authorized pursuant to subdivision B 2; and <a id=\"paragraph-231163\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/10.1-1422.01\/#C2\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"C3\" class=\"indent-1\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">3.<\/span> Up to a maximum of five percent for the operation of public information campaigns pursuant to subdivision B 3. <a id=\"paragraph-231164\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/10.1-1422.01\/#C3\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>","plain_text":"                                 CODE OF VIRGINIA\n\nLITTER CONTROL AND RECYCLING FUND ESTABLISHED; USE OF MONEYS; PURPOSE OF FUND\n(\u00a7 10.1-1422.01)\n\nA. All moneys collected from the civil penalties imposed pursuant to &#xA7;\n10.1-1424.3, from the taxes imposed under &#xA7;&#xA7; 58.1-1700 through\n58.1-1710, and by the taxes increased by Chapter 616 of the 1977 Acts of\nAssembly, shall be paid into the treasury and credited to a special nonreverting\nfund known as the Litter Control and Recycling Fund, which is hereby\nestablished. The Fund shall be established on the books of the Comptroller. Any\nmoneys remaining in the Fund shall not revert to the general fund but shall\nremain in the Fund. Interest earned on such moneys shall remain in the Fund and\nbe credited to it. The Director is authorized to release money from the Fund on\nwarrants issued by the Comptroller after receiving and considering the\nrecommendations of the Advisory Board for the purposes enumerated in subsection\nB.\n\nB. Moneys from the Fund shall be expended, according to the allocation formula\nestablished in subsection C, for the following purposes:\n\n   1. Local litter prevention and recycling grants to localities that meet the\n   criteria established in &#xA7; 10.1-1422.04;\n\n   2. Payment to (i) the Department to process the grants authorized by this\n   article and (ii) the actual administrative costs of the Advisory Board.
