Such <span class=\"dictionary\">ordinance<\/span> shall further provide that any person failing to comply with such <span class=\"dictionary\">subpoena<\/span> so issued shall be subject to punishment for <span class=\"dictionary\">contempt<\/span> by the <span class=\"dictionary\">court<\/span> issuing the <span class=\"dictionary\">subpoena<\/span>, and that any person so subpoenaed may apply to the <span class=\"dictionary\">judge<\/span> who issued a <span class=\"dictionary\">subpoena<\/span> to <span class=\"dictionary\">quash<\/span> it. <a id=\"paragraph-226101\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/15.2-725\/#B\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"C\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">C.<\/span> Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection A, whenever a <span class=\"dictionary\">county<\/span> has adopted an <span class=\"dictionary\">ordinance<\/span> prohibiting discrimination as authorized by this section, such <span class=\"dictionary\">county<\/span> may also in its <span class=\"dictionary\">ordinance<\/span> prohibit discrimination in commercial real estate transactions. <a id=\"paragraph-226102\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/15.2-725\/#C\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>","plain_text":"                                 CODE OF VIRGINIA\n\nCOMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS; SUBPOENA REQUESTS (\u00a7 15.2-725)\n\nA. The board may, by ordinance, establish a local commission on human rights\nwhich shall have the following duties:\n\n   1. To promote policies to ensure that all persons be afforded equal\n   opportunity;\n\n   2. To serve as an agency for receiving, investigating and assisting in the\n   resolution of complaints from citizens of the county regarding discriminatory\n   practices and, with the board&#8217;s approval, to seek, through appropriate\n   enforcement authorities, prevention of or relief from such practices.\n\nB. The board may by ordinance provide that whenever the commission has\nreasonable cause to believe that any person has engaged in or is engaging in a\nviolation of an authorized local human rights ordinance, and after making a good\nfaith effort to obtain, voluntarily, the attendance of witnesses necessary to\ndetermine whether such violation occurred, the commission is unable to obtain\nsuch attendance, it may request the county attorney, with the approval of the\nboard, to apply to the judge of the circuit court for the locality in which the\nwitness resides or is doing business for a subpoena against such person refusing\nto appear as a witness, and the judge of such court may, upon good cause shown,\ncause the subpoena to be issued. Such ordinance shall provide that any witness\nsubpoena so issued shall include a statement that any statements made will be\nunder oath and the witness is entitled to be represented by an attorney. Such\nordinance shall further provide that any person failing to comply with such\nsubpoena so issued shall be subject to punishment for contempt by the court\nissuing the subpoena, and that any person so subpoenaed may apply to the judge\nwho issued a subpoena to quash it.\n\nC.
