In each year, the\nfollowing days are designated as legal holidays:\n\t\tJanuary 1 \u2014 New Year&#8217;s Day.\n\t\tThe third Monday in January \u2014 Martin Luther King, Jr., Day to honor Martin\nLuther King, Jr., (1929-1968), defender of causes.\n\t\tThe third Monday in February \u2014 George Washington Day to honor George\nWashington (1732-1799), the first President of the United States.\n\t\tThe last Monday in May \u2014 Memorial Day to honor all persons who made the\nsupreme sacrifice in giving their lives in defense of Virginia and the United\nStates in the following wars and engagements and otherwise: Indian Uprising\n(1622), French and Indian Wars (1754-1763), Revolutionary War (1775-1783), War\nof 1812 (1812-1815), Mexican War (1846-1848), Civil War (1861-1865),\nSpanish-American War (1898), World War I (1917-1918), World War II (1941-1945),\nKorean War (1950-1953), Vietnam War (1965-1973), Operation Desert Shield-Desert\nStorm (1990-1991), Global War on Terrorism (2000- ), Operation Enduring Freedom\n(2001- ), and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003- ).
