means information relating to a biological characteristic of an individual that makes that individual unique from any other individual, including, but not limited to, the following:1\n\nFingerprints, palm prints, and other means for measuring or recording ridge pattern or fingertip characteristics;2\n\nFacial feature pattern characteristics;3\n\nBehavior characteristics of a handwritten signature, such as shape, speed, pressure, pen angle, or sequence;4\n\nVoice data used for comparing live speech with a previously created speech model of an individual&#8217;s voice;5\n\nIris recognition data containing color or texture patterns or codes;6\n\nKeystroke dynamics, measuring pressure applied to key pads;7\n\nHand geometry, measuring hand characteristics, including the shape and length of fingers, in three dimensions;8\n\nRetinal scans, reading through the pupil to measure blood vessels lining the retina; and9\n\nDeoxyribonucleic acid or ribonucleic acid.\n\t\t\t\t&#8220;Biometric samples&#8221; means anything used as a source to develop, create, or extract biometric data.\n\t\t\t\t&#8220;Economic privacy&#8221; means the privacy of an individual that relates to a right, privilege, or reasonable expectation that certain information is required by law to be held confidential or is otherwise considered to be confidential to that individual, including, but not limited to:1\n\nInformation included in a tax return required by law to be filed with the federal, state, or local government;2\n\nInformation on financial transactions conducted by or on behalf of the individual; means Division B of the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for Defense, the Global War on Terror, and Tsunami Relief, 2005 (P.L. 109-13, 119 Stat. 302). <a id=\"paragraph-295015\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/2.2-614.2\/#A3\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"B\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">B.<\/span> With the exception of identification cards issued to employees of the Department of State Police and any other <span class=\"dictionary\">law<\/span>-enforcement officer employed by any agency of the Commonwealth, neither the Governor nor the Department of Motor Vehicles nor any other agency of the Commonwealth shall comply with any provision of the REAL ID Act of 2005 that they determine would compromise the <span class=\"dictionary\">economic privacy<\/span>, <span class=\"dictionary\">biometric data<\/span>, or <span class=\"dictionary\">biometric samples<\/span> of any resident of the Commonwealth. <a id=\"paragraph-295016\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/2.2-614.2\/#B\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>","plain_text":"                                 CODE OF VIRGINIA\n\nPARTICIPATION IN THE REAL ID ACT OF 2005 (\u00a7 2.2-614.2)\n\nA. For purposes of this section, the following words and phrases shall have the\nmeanings respectively ascribed to them in this section except in those instances\nwhere the context clearly indicates a different meaning:\n\t\t\t&#8220;Biometric data&#8221; means information relating to a biological\ncharacteristic of an individual that makes that individual unique from any other\nindividual, including, but not limited to, the following:\n\n   1. Fingerprints, palm prints, and other means for measuring or recording ridge\n   pattern or fingertip characteristics;\n\n   2. Facial feature pattern characteristics;\n\n   3. Behavior characteristics of a handwritten signature, such as shape, speed,\n   pressure, pen angle, or sequence;\n\n   4. Voice data used for comparing live speech with a previously created speech\n   model of an individual&#8217;s voice;\n\n   5. Iris recognition data containing color or texture patterns or codes;\n\n   6. Keystroke dynamics, measuring pressure applied to key pads;\n\n   7. Hand geometry, measuring hand characteristics, including the shape and\n   length of fingers, in three dimensions;\n\n   8. Retinal scans, reading through the pupil to measure blood vessels lining\n   the retina; and\n\n   9. Deoxyribonucleic acid or ribonucleic acid.\n   \t\t\t\t&#8220;Biometric samples&#8221; means anything used as a source to\n   develop, create, or extract biometric data.\n   \t\t\t\t&#8220;Economic privacy&#8221; means the privacy of an individual that\n   relates to a right, privilege, or reasonable expectation that certain\n   information is required by law to be held confidential or is otherwise\n   considered to be confidential to that individual, including, but not limited\n   to:\n\n   1. Information included in a tax return required by law to be filed with the\n   federal, state, or local government;\n\n   2. Information on financial transactions conducted by or on behalf of the\n   individual; and\n\n   3.
