Any number of persons wishing to provide emergency medical services may\nestablish an emergency medical services agency by (i) recording a writing\nstating the formation of such company, with the names of the members thereof\nthereto subscribed in the court of the county or city wherein such agency shall\nbe located, (ii) complying with such local ordinances as may exist related to\nestablishment of an emergency medical services agency, and (iii) obtaining a\nvalid emergency medical services agency license from the Office of Emergency\nMedical Services together with such emergency medical services vehicle permits\nfrom the Office of Emergency Medical Services as the Office of Emergency Medical\nServices may require. The principal officer of such emergency medical services\nagency shall be known as &#8220;the emergency medical services agency\nchief&#8221; or &#8220;EMS chief.&#8221;\n\nB. The members of an emergency medical services agency established pursuant to\nsubsection A may make regulations for effecting its objects consistent with the\nlaws of the Commonwealth; the ordinances of the county, city, or town; and the\nbylaws of the emergency medical services agency thereof.\n\nC. In every county, city, or town in which an emergency medical services agency\nis established pursuant to this section, there shall be appointed, at such time\nand in such manner as the governing body of such county, city, or town in which\nthe emergency medical services agency is located may prescribe, an emergency\nmedical services agency chief and as many other officers of the emergency\nmedical services agency as such governing body may direct.\n\nD. An emergency medical services agency established pursuant to this section may\nbe dissolved when the local governing body of the county, city, or town in which\nthe emergency medical services agency is located determines that the emergency\nmedical services agency has failed, for three months successively, to have or\nkeep in good and serviceable condition emergency medical services vehicles and\nequipment and other proper implements, or when the governing body of the county,\ncity, or town for any reason deems it advisable.\n\nE. Upon dissolution of an emergency medical services agency established pursuant\nto this section, any property that was in the possession of such emergency\nmedical services agency and that was purchased using public funds shall be\noffered to a city or county served by the emergency medical services agency to\nbe used for the public good.\n\nHISTORY: 2015, cc. 502, 503; 2020, c. 946.","edition":{"id":1,"name":"2025","slug":"2025","date_created":"2026-06-21 22:39:22","date_modified":"2026-06-21 22:39:22","current":1,"order_by":1,"last_import":null}}
