No applicant for a nonresident agent license shall be permitted to obtain such a license unless such agent&#8217;s home state will grant a similar license to a resident of this Commonwealth.D\n\nThe Commission may verify the agent&#8217;s licensing status through the Producer Database maintained by the NAIC, its affiliates or subsidiaries.E\n\nA nonresident agent who moves from one state or province to another state shall file a change of address and provide a certification from the new home state within thirty calendar days of the change of legal residence. No fee or license application is required.F\n\nNotwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, a person licensed as a limited lines credit insurance or other type of limited lines agent in his home state shall receive a nonresident limited lines agent license, pursuant to subsection A of this section, granting the same scope of authority as is granted under the license issued by the agent&#8217;s home state. No fee or <span class=\"dictionary\">license<\/span> application is required. <a id=\"paragraph-243880\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/38.2-1836\/#E\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"F\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">F.<\/span> Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, a <span class=\"dictionary\">person<\/span> licensed as a limited lines credit <span class=\"dictionary\">insurance<\/span> or other type of limited lines agent in his <span class=\"dictionary\">home state<\/span> shall receive a nonresident limited lines agent <span class=\"dictionary\">license<\/span>, pursuant to subsection A of this section, granting the same scope of authority as is granted under the <span class=\"dictionary\">license<\/span> issued by the agent&#8217;s <span class=\"dictionary\">home state<\/span>. A <span class=\"dictionary\">person<\/span> holding an unrestricted <span class=\"dictionary\">license<\/span> from his <span class=\"dictionary\">home state<\/span> in which the authority of the <span class=\"dictionary\">license<\/span> is less than the total authority prescribed in the associated major lines pursuant &#xA7;&#xA7; <a class=\"law\" title=\"License required of resident property and casualty insurance agent and resident personal lines agent\" href=\"\/38.2-1814\/\">38.2-1814<\/a> through <a class=\"law\" title=\"License required of resident health agent\" href=\"\/38.2-1815.1\/\">38.2-1815.1<\/a> shall be issued a restricted nonresident <span class=\"dictionary\">license<\/span> providing authority equivalent to that held by the agent in his <span class=\"dictionary\">home state<\/span>. <a id=\"paragraph-243881\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/38.2-1836\/#F\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"G\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">G.<\/span> Any <span class=\"dictionary\">licenses<\/span> and appointments issued to nonresidents pursuant to this section shall be terminated at any time that the nonresident&#8217;s equivalent authority in his <span class=\"dictionary\">home state<\/span> is terminated, suspended, or revoked. <a id=\"paragraph-243882\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/38.2-1836\/#G\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>","plain_text":"                                 CODE OF VIRGINIA\n\nLICENSING NONRESIDENTS; RECIPROCAL AGREEMENTS WITH OTHER STATES AND CANADIAN\nPROVINCES (\u00a7 38.2-1836)\n\nA. An individual or business entity who is not a resident as defined in \u00a7\n38.2-1800, but who is a resident of another state or territory of the United\nStates or a province of Canada shall receive a nonresident agent license if:\n\n   1. The applicant presents proof in a form acceptable to the Commission that\n   the applicant is currently licensed as a resident and in good standing in his\n   home state;\n\n   2. The applicant has submitted the proper request for licensure and has paid\n   the fees required by &#xA7; 38.2-1819;\n\n   3. The applicant has submitted or transmitted to the Commission the\n   application for licensure that the person submitted to his home state, or in\n   lieu of the same, a completed Uniform Application; and\n\n   4. The person&#8217;s home state issues nonresident agent licenses to\n   residents of this Commonwealth on the same basis.\n\nB. For the purposes of this chapter, any individual whose place of residence and\nplace of business are in a city or town located partly within the Commonwealth\nand partly within another state may be considered as meeting the requirements as\na resident of this Commonwealth, provided the other state has established by law\nor regulation similar requirements as to residence of such individuals.\n\nC. The Commission may enter into a reciprocal agreement with an appropriate\nofficial of any other state, territory or province of Canada if such an\nagreement is required in order for a Virginia resident to be similarly licensed\nas a nonresident in that state, territory or province. No applicant for a\nnonresident agent license shall be permitted to obtain such a license unless\nsuch agent&#8217;s home state will grant a similar license to a resident of this\nCommonwealth.\n\nD. The Commission may verify the agent&#8217;s licensing status through the\nProducer Database maintained by the NAIC, its affiliates or subsidiaries.\n\nE. A nonresident agent who moves from one state or province to another state\nshall file a change of address and provide a certification from the new home\nstate within thirty calendar days of the change of legal residence. No fee or\nlicense application is required.\n\nF. Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, a person licensed as a\nlimited lines credit insurance or other type of limited lines agent in his home\nstate shall receive a nonresident limited lines agent license, pursuant to\nsubsection A of this section, granting the same scope of authority as is granted\nunder the license issued by the agent&#8217;s home state. A person holding an\nunrestricted license from his home state in which the authority of the license\nis less than the total authority prescribed in the associated major lines\npursuant &#xA7;&#xA7; 38.2-1814 through 38.2-1815.1 shall be issued a restricted\nnonresident license providing authority equivalent to that held by the agent in\nhis home state.\n\nG.
