This law was first created in 1989. The record of its establishment is cataloged in chapter 705 of that year\u2019s edition of \u201cActs of Assembly,\u201d the annual state publication listing all changes made to the Code of Virginia in that year. Unfortunately, the 1989 \u201cActs\u201d aren\u2019t available online. It has been modified 3 times. A.<\/span> No person<\/span> shall drive a commercial motor vehicle<\/span> in the Commonwealth unless he has been issued a commercial driver<\/span>’s license or commercial learner’s permit and unless such license or permit authorizes the operation of the type and class of vehicle so driven, and unless such license or permit is valid. <\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

B.<\/span> Every driver<\/span> of a commercial motor vehicle<\/span>, while driving such vehicle in the Commonwealth, shall have in his immediate possession<\/span> the commercial driver<\/span>’s license or commercial learner’s permit authorizing the operation of such vehicle and shall make it available to any law<\/span>-enforcement officer<\/span> upon request. Failure to comply with this subsection shall be punishable as provided in § 46.2-104<\/a>. <\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

C.<\/span> No person<\/span> shall drive a commercial vehicle in Virginia in violation of any of the restrictions<\/span> or limitations stated on his commercial driver<\/span>’s license or commercial learner’s permit.
