However, the holder of a registration or permit issued by the <span class=\"dictionary\">Department<\/span> shall not be required to file any cargo insurance, <span class=\"dictionary\">bond<\/span>, or <span class=\"dictionary\">bonds<\/span> for cargo liability for the hauling of property transported under contract. <a id=\"paragraph-228389\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/5.1-9.5\/#B\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"C\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">C.<\/span> In no event shall the limits required herein for <span class=\"dictionary\">contract carriers<\/span> be less than those prescribed for like carriers by the Civil Aeronautics <span class=\"dictionary\">Board<\/span> or the Federal Aviation Administration or their successors. <a id=\"paragraph-228390\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/5.1-9.5\/#C\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"D\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">D.<\/span> In lieu of such policy, underwritten <span class=\"dictionary\">bond<\/span> or certificate of insurance, a contract carrier may, with the consent of the <span class=\"dictionary\">Department<\/span>, submit <span class=\"dictionary\">bonds<\/span>, in an amount approved by the <span class=\"dictionary\">Department<\/span>, of the United States of America, the Commonwealth of Virginia, or of any municipality of this Commonwealth as security for its <span class=\"dictionary\">bond<\/span>.
