A.<\/span> The Board<\/span> may issue<\/span> a restricted volunteer license to a physician assistant<\/span> who meets the qualifications for licensure for physician assistants<\/span>. The Board<\/span> may refuse issuance of licensure pursuant to § 54.1-2915<\/a>. <\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

B.<\/span> A person holding a restricted volunteer license under this section shall: <\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

1.<\/span> Only practice in public health or community free clinics approved by the Board<\/span>; <\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

2.<\/span> Only treat patients who have no insurance or who are not eligible for financial assistance for medical care; and <\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

3.<\/span> Not receive remuneration directly or indirectly for practicing as a physician assistant<\/span>. <\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

C.<\/span> A physician assistant<\/span> with a restricted volunteer license issued under this section shall only practice as a physician assistant<\/span> and perform certain acts which constitute the practice of medicine to the extent and in the manner authorized by the Board<\/span> if: <\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

1.<\/span> A patient care team<\/span> physician<\/span> or patient care team<\/span> podiatrist<\/span> is available at all times to collaborate and consult with the physician assistant<\/span>; or <\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

2.<\/span> A patient care team<\/span> physician<\/span> or patient care team<\/span> podiatrist<\/span> periodically reviews the relevant patient records. <\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

D.<\/span> A restricted volunteer license granted pursuant to this section shall be issued to the physician assistant<\/span> without charge, shall expire twelve months from the date of issuance, and may be renewed annually in accordance with regulations promulgated by the Board<\/span>. <\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t
