The provisions of this section shall not be construed to prohibit any\nindividual from providing first aid, nor any coach, physical education\ninstructor or other person from (i) conducting or assisting with exercise or\nconditioning programs or classes within the scope of their duties as employees\nor volunteers or (ii) applying protective taping to an uninjured body part.\n\nB. The requirements for licensure of athletic trainers shall not prevent student\nathletic trainers from practicing athletic training under the supervision and\ncontrol of a licensed athletic trainer pursuant to regulations promulgated by\nthe Board.\n\nC. Notwithstanding the provisions of §§ 54.1-2957.4 and 54.1-2957.5,\nany person who, prior to June 30, 2004, is employed in Virginia as an athletic\ntrainer, or in the performance of his employment duties engages in the practice\nof athletic training and is certified pursuant to this section and §§\n54.1-2957.4 and 54.1-2957.5 as such statutes were in effect on June 30, 2004,\nshall not be required to obtain a license from the Board to continue to be so\nemployed until July 1, 2005.\n\nHISTORY: 1999, cc. 639, 682, 747; 2001, c. 61; 2003, c. 529; 2004, c. 669.","edition":{"id":1,"name":"2025","slug":"2025","date_created":"2026-06-21 22:39:22","date_modified":"2026-06-21 22:39:22","current":1,"order_by":1,"last_import":null}}
