This registration shall be in addition to other licensing or permitting requirements enumerated in this chapter or otherwise required by <span class=\"dictionary\">law<\/span>. <a id=\"paragraph-265429\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/54.1-3422\/#A\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"B\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">B.<\/span> Registration under this section and under all other applicable registration requirements shall entitle the registrant to possess, <span class=\"dictionary\">manufacture<\/span>, <span class=\"dictionary\">distribute<\/span>, <span class=\"dictionary\">dispense<\/span>, perform laboratory analysis, or conduct research with those substances to the extent authorized by this registration and in conformity with the other provisions of this chapter. <a id=\"paragraph-265430\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/54.1-3422\/#B\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"C\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">C.<\/span> The following <span class=\"dictionary\">persons<\/span> need not register and may possess <span class=\"dictionary\">controlled substances<\/span> listed on <span class=\"dictionary\">Schedules<\/span> I through VI: <a id=\"paragraph-265431\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/54.1-3422\/#C\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"C1\" class=\"indent-1\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">1.<\/span> An <span class=\"dictionary\">agent<\/span> or employee of any holder of a <span class=\"dictionary\">controlled substance<\/span> registration certificate or of any <span class=\"dictionary\">practitioner<\/span> listed in subsection A of this section as exempt from the requirement for registration, if such <span class=\"dictionary\">agent<\/span> or employee is acting in the usual course of his business or employment; <a id=\"paragraph-265432\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/54.1-3422\/#C1\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"C2\" class=\"indent-1\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">2.<\/span> A common or <span class=\"dictionary\">contract<\/span> carrier or warehouseman, or his employee, whose <span class=\"dictionary\">possession<\/span> is in the usual course of business or employment; or <a id=\"paragraph-265433\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/54.1-3422\/#C2\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"C3\" class=\"indent-1\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">3.<\/span> An ultimate user or a <span class=\"dictionary\">person<\/span> in <span class=\"dictionary\">possession<\/span> of any <span class=\"dictionary\">controlled substance<\/span> pursuant to a lawful <span class=\"dictionary\">order<\/span> of a <span class=\"dictionary\">prescriber<\/span> or in lawful <span class=\"dictionary\">possession<\/span> of a Schedule V substance. <a id=\"paragraph-265434\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/54.1-3422\/#C3\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section id=\"D\"><p><span class=\"prefix-number\">D.<\/span> A separate registration is required at each principal place of business or professional practice where the applicant <span class=\"dictionary\">manufactures<\/span>, <span class=\"dictionary\">distributes<\/span>, or <span class=\"dictionary\">dispenses<\/span> <span class=\"dictionary\">controlled substances<\/span>. <a id=\"paragraph-265435\" class=\"section-permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/vacode.org\/54.1-3422\/#D\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"><\/i><\/a><\/p><\/section>","plain_text":"                                 CODE OF VIRGINIA\n\nCONTROLLED SUBSTANCES REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO OTHER\nREQUIREMENTS; EXEMPTIONS (\u00a7 54.1-3422)\n\nA. Every person who manufactures, distributes or dispenses any substance that is\ncontrolled in Schedules I through V or who proposes to engage in the\nmanufacture, distribution or dispensing of any such controlled substance except\npermitted pharmacies, those persons who are licensed pharmacists, those persons\nwho are licensed physician assistants, and those persons who are licensed\npractitioners of medicine, osteopathy, podiatry, dentistry, optometry, nursing,\nor veterinary medicine shall obtain annually a controlled substances\nregistration certificate issued by the Board. A common or contract carrier or warehouseman, or his employee, whose\n   possession is in the usual course of business or employment; or\n\n   3. An ultimate user or a person in possession of any controlled substance\n   pursuant to a lawful order of a prescriber or in lawful possession of a\n   Schedule V substance.\n\nD.
