						<section><p>Whenever it is not designated by general <span class="dictionary">law</span> or special act which officer or employee of the <span class="dictionary">locality</span> shall exercise any power or perform any duty conferred upon or required of the <span class="dictionary">locality</span>, then any such power shall be exercised or duty performed by the officer or employee of the <span class="dictionary">locality</span> so designated by the <span class="dictionary">governing body</span>. The <span class="dictionary">governing body</span> also may authorize the chief administrative officer to designate officers and employees to perform administrative duties and to exercise administrative powers.</p></section></text><history>1997, c. 587.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
