						<section><p>The Commonwealth&#x2019;s proportion of the salaries, expenses and other allowances of the treasurers, commissioners of the revenue, attorneys for the Commonwealth, and sheriffs shall be paid out of the appropriations made for those purposes in the general appropriation act.
		The budgets fixed by the Compensation Board may thereafter be amended by the Compensation Board upon the request of the officer or local <span class="dictionary">governing body</span> or when changed circumstances so require. No budget shall be increased if any portion of the increase is payable from local funds without the concurrence of the local <span class="dictionary">governing body</span>.
		All provisions of charters of cities and <span class="dictionary">towns</span> inconsistent with the provisions of this article are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.</p></section></text><history>Code 1950, &#xA7; 14-78; 1964, c. 386, &#xA7; 14.1-66; 1966, c. 688; 1980, c. 588; 1983, c. 382; 1998, c. 872.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
