						<section><p>Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection A of &#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="State highway systems excepted; town streets" href="/15.2-2000/">15.2-2000</a>, every <span class="dictionary">locality</span>, by <span class="dictionary">ordinance</span>, may require that each building that fronts on a right-of-way be numbered and such number be displayed on the primary or accompanying building or in a manner that is easily readable from the right-of-way. Every <span class="dictionary">locality</span> may adopt such rules or procedures necessary to ensure the compliance with and enforcement of the <span class="dictionary">ordinance</span> adopted pursuant to this section. The <span class="dictionary">ordinance</span> may include provisions for a civil <span class="dictionary">penalty</span> not to exceed $100 for a violation that has not been corrected within 15 days of notice of such violation. Civil penalties assessed under this section shall be paid into the treasury of the <span class="dictionary">locality</span> where the violation occurred.</p></section></text><history>1984, c. 223, &#xA7; 15.1-29.11; 1997, cc. 534, 587; 2020, c. 8.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
