						<section><p>An entire <span class="dictionary">county</span> may be consolidated with any <span class="dictionary">county</span> or <span class="dictionary">city</span> having a common boundary in accordance with the foregoing provisions of this article without the necessity of any action concerning the <span class="dictionary">consolidation</span> being taken by the <span class="dictionary">council</span> of any <span class="dictionary">town</span> situated in such <span class="dictionary">county</span> and without the necessity of a separate <span class="dictionary">referendum</span> in any such <span class="dictionary">town</span> on the question of the <span class="dictionary">consolidation</span>.</p></section></text><history>Code 1950, &#xA7; 15-231; 1962, c. 623, &#xA7; 15.1-1145; 1979, c. 85; 1997, c. 587.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
