						<section><p>Notwithstanding any contrary provision of <span class="dictionary">law</span> in this chapter, an <span class="dictionary">authority</span> may lease as lessee or otherwise <span class="dictionary">contract</span> for the provision of, operate, and maintain streetlights in King George <span class="dictionary">County</span>. The lessor or other contractual provider of such streetlights shall be a public service corporation that holds a certificate of public convenience and necessity to provide retail electric service in the territory in which such streetlights are located. King George <span class="dictionary">County</span> may contribute funds to the <span class="dictionary">authority</span> by act of its <span class="dictionary">governing body</span> for use by the <span class="dictionary">authority</span> in carrying out the <span class="dictionary">authority</span>&#x2019;s powers listed in this section. In addition, the <span class="dictionary">authority</span> may fix, charge, and collect fees, rates, and charges for the use of the service described in this section or for such service furnished by the <span class="dictionary">authority</span>. Such fees, rates, and charges shall be charged to and collected from any person contracting for the service, or lessee, or tenant, or any other person who uses or occupies any real estate served by or benefiting from the service.</p></section></text><history>1997, c. 587; 2019, c. 632.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
