						<section><p>The <span class="dictionary">county</span> engineer, who shall be head of the department of public works, shall be responsible for the construction and maintenance of <span class="dictionary">county</span> roads and bridges, <span class="dictionary">county</span> stormwater systems within public rights-of-way and public easements and all other public works. He shall exercise the powers conferred and perform the duties imposed by general <span class="dictionary">law</span> upon the <span class="dictionary">county</span> engineer and in addition shall perform such other duties as the board imposes upon him.</p></section></text><history>Code 1950, &#xA7; 15-321; 1962, c. 623, &#xA7; 15.1-641; 1997, c. 587.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
