						<section><p>The director of social services, who shall be head of the department of social services, shall exercise the powers conferred and perform the duties imposed by general <span class="dictionary">law</span> upon the <span class="dictionary">county</span> board of social services, not inconsistent herewith. He shall also perform such other duties as the <span class="dictionary">board of supervisors</span> imposes upon him.
		The <span class="dictionary">county</span> board of social services shall consist of six members; shall have all the powers, duties, and authority set out in Chapter 3 (&#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Local boards established by local governments" href="/63.2-300/">63.2-300</a> et seq.) of Title 63.2 of the Code of Virginia; and shall be appointed by the <span class="dictionary">board of supervisors</span>, which may fix, within the limits set forth in &#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Compensation and expenses" href="/63.2-310/">63.2-310</a>, the compensation of the members of such board. At all times one member of the <span class="dictionary">county</span> board of social services shall also be a member of the <span class="dictionary">board of supervisors</span>.
