						<section><p>In any <span class="dictionary">county</span> for which a <span class="dictionary">trial</span> board for police officers is provided by state <span class="dictionary">statute</span>, police officers may elect the remedy provided by Chapter 5 (&#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Definitions" href="/9.1-500/">9.1-500</a> et seq.) of Title 9.1 in lieu of appealing to the <span class="dictionary">trial</span> board, but such election shall bar the right of <span class="dictionary">appeal</span> to the <span class="dictionary">trial</span> board or the right to employ any other grievance procedure with regard to the matters for which the provisions of such chapter are involved.</p></section></text><history>1980, c. 79, &#xA7; 15.1-687.1; 1997, c. 587.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
