						<section><p>No part of a <span class="dictionary">county</span>&#x2019;s territory may be annexed by any <span class="dictionary">city</span> unless the whole <span class="dictionary">county</span> be annexed. In such latter case the <span class="dictionary">county</span> shall not be annexed until the question of annexation has been first submitted to a <span class="dictionary">referendum</span> of the <span class="dictionary">voters</span> of such <span class="dictionary">county</span> and approved by a majority of those voting thereon.</p></section></text><history>Code 1950, &#xA7;&#xA7; 15-358, 15-359; 1962, c. 623, &#xA7; 15.1-692; 1997, c. 587.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
