						<section><p>The Supreme <span class="dictionary">Court</span> may formulate rules of practice and procedure for the general district <span class="dictionary">courts</span> and juvenile and domestic relations district <span class="dictionary">courts</span> following consultation with the Chairmen of the House and Senate Committees for <span class="dictionary">Courts</span> of Justice and the executive committee of the Judicial Conference of Virginia for District <span class="dictionary">Courts</span>. Such rules, subject to the strict construction of the provisions of &#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Supreme Court may prescribe rules; effective date and availability; indexed, and annotated; effect of subsequent enactments of General Assembly" href="/8.01-3/">8.01-3</a>, which shall be the only rules of practice and procedure in all the district <span class="dictionary">courts</span> in the Commonwealth, shall be included in the Code of Virginia as provided in &#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Supreme Court may prescribe rules; effective date and availability; indexed, and annotated; effect of subsequent enactments of General Assembly" href="/8.01-3/">8.01-3</a>, subject to revision by the General Assembly.</p></section></text><history>1972, c. 708; 1973, c. 546; 1975, c. 334; 1976, c. 306.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
