						<section><p>All personnel shall be appointed by, serve at the pleasure of, and be subject to removal by the <span class="dictionary">chief judge</span> of the district <span class="dictionary">court</span> in which they serve. In the event of any personnel authorized to serve in both a general district <span class="dictionary">court</span> and juvenile and domestic relations district <span class="dictionary">court</span> within any district, appointments and removals shall be made by the <span class="dictionary">chief judges</span> of such <span class="dictionary">courts</span> and in the event of a tie vote on any such matter the <span class="dictionary">chief judges</span> of the district shall certify such <span class="dictionary">fact</span> to the Committee on District <span class="dictionary">Courts</span> who shall decide the matter. The provisions of this section shall not be applicable in the event of authorization for any deputy <span class="dictionary">circuit</span> <span class="dictionary">court</span> clerk or deputy clerk to serve any district <span class="dictionary">court</span>. Personnel subject to the provisions of this article shall not be subject to the Virginia Personnel Act (&#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Short title; purpose" href="/2.2-2900/">2.2-2900</a> et seq.).</p></section></text><history>1972, c. 708; 1973, c. 546; 1975, c. 334.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
