						<section><p><span class="dictionary">Judges</span> of <span class="dictionary">courts</span> not of record may, upon the <span class="dictionary">continuance</span> of any case, require the witnesses or any of them, to enter into <span class="dictionary">recognizance</span> in such <span class="dictionary">penalty</span> as the <span class="dictionary">judge</span> may deem proper, either with or without security, for their <span class="dictionary">appearance</span> at a subsequent date to give <span class="dictionary">evidence</span> in the case, such <span class="dictionary">recognizance</span> to conform to the requirements of &#xA7;&#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Commitment for trial; recognizance; notice to attorney for Commonwealth; remand on violation of condition" href="/19.2-135/">19.2-135</a> through <a class="law" title="Order of court on recognizance" href="/19.2-137/">19.2-137</a> for taking <span class="dictionary">recognizance</span> of witnesses.</p></section></text><history>1956, c. 555; 1960, c. 372.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
