						<section><p>Except as provided in Chapter 6 (&#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Definitions" href="/19.2-61/">19.2-61</a> et seq.) of Title 19.2, it shall be unlawful for any person who, by virtue of his position of authority or in the course of his employment by a <span class="dictionary">court</span>, a public utility, a <span class="dictionary">law</span>-enforcement agency, or by any other agency of state or local government, obtains knowledge of the <span class="dictionary">fact</span> that an <span class="dictionary">order</span> authorizing interception of wire or oral communication has been entered or is sought to be entered, intentionally to disclose such information to any person, except in the performance of his duties. Persons violating this section shall be guilty of a Class 1 <span class="dictionary">misdemeanor</span>.
		Nothing herein precludes a <span class="dictionary">court</span> authorizing an interception under this chapter from prohibiting any other person from disclosing the existence of an <span class="dictionary">order</span>, interception, or device and imposing <span class="dictionary">contempt</span> <span class="dictionary">sanctions</span> for any willful disclosure.</p></section></text><history>1980, c. 339.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
