						<section><p>A <span class="dictionary">person</span> taking a <span class="dictionary">recognizance</span> out of <span class="dictionary">court</span> shall forthwith transmit it to the clerk of the <span class="dictionary">court</span> for <span class="dictionary">appearance</span> before which it is taken; or, if it be not for <span class="dictionary">appearance</span> before a <span class="dictionary">court</span>, to the clerk of the <span class="dictionary">circuit</span> <span class="dictionary">court</span> of the county or city in which it is taken; and it shall remain filed in the clerk&#x2019;s office.</p></section></text><history>Code 1950, &#xA7; 19.1-136; 1960, c. 366; 1975, c. 495.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
