						<section><p>If the surrender is to the <span class="dictionary">court</span>, the <span class="dictionary">court</span> shall make such <span class="dictionary">order</span> as it deems proper; if the surrender is to a sheriff or jailer, the officer to whom the <span class="dictionary">accused</span> has been surrendered shall give the <span class="dictionary">surety</span> a certificate of the <span class="dictionary">fact</span>. After such surrender the <span class="dictionary">person</span> shall be treated in accordance with the provisions of Article 1 (&#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Definitions" href="/19.2-119/">19.2-119</a> et seq.) of Chapter 9 of this title unless the <span class="dictionary">court</span> or <span class="dictionary">judge</span> thereof has reason to believe that no one or more conditions of release will reasonably assure that the <span class="dictionary">person</span> will not flee or pose a danger to any other <span class="dictionary">person</span> or to the community.</p></section></text><history>Code 1950, &#xA7; 19.1-145; 1960, c. 366; 1973, c. 485; 1975, c. 495; 1978, c. 755; 1999, cc. 829, 846.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
