						<section><p>The court, when ordering <span class="dictionary">restitution</span> pursuant to &#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Requiring fines, costs, restitution for damages, support, or community services from probationer" href="/19.2-305/">19.2-305</a> or <a class="law" title="Restitution for property damage or loss; community service" href="/19.2-305.1/">19.2-305.1</a>, may provide in the <span class="dictionary">order</span> for interest on the <span class="dictionary">restitution</span>. If the <span class="dictionary">court orders</span> the payment of interest, it shall accrue from the date of the loss or damage unless the court specifies a different date in the <span class="dictionary">order</span>, at the rate specified in &#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Judgment rate of interest" href="/6.2-302/">6.2-302</a>.</p></section></text><history>1996, c. 544; 2001, c. 122; 2005, cc. 14, 79.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
