						<section><p>For purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings unless the context requires otherwise:
		&#x201C;<span class="dictionary">Defendant</span>&#x201D; means any person who pleads guilty to, is convicted of, or is found not guilty by reason of <span class="dictionary">insanity</span> with respect to a <span class="dictionary">felony</span> resulting in physical injury to or death of another person.
		&#x201C;<span class="dictionary">Division</span>&#x201D; means the <span class="dictionary">Division</span> of <span class="dictionary">Crime</span> <span class="dictionary">Victims</span>&#x2019; Compensation.
		&#x201C;<span class="dictionary">Interested party</span>&#x201D; means the <span class="dictionary">victim</span>, the <span class="dictionary">defendant</span>, and any transferee of proceeds due the <span class="dictionary">defendant</span> under a <span class="dictionary">contract</span>, the person with whom the <span class="dictionary">defendant</span> has contracted, the prosecuting attorney for the Commonwealth, and the <span class="dictionary">Division</span> of <span class="dictionary">Crime</span> <span class="dictionary">Victims</span>&#x2019; Compensation.
		&#x201C;<span class="dictionary">Victim</span>&#x201D; means a person who suffers personal, physical, mental, emotional, or pecuniary loss as a direct result of a <span class="dictionary">crime</span> and includes the spouse, parent, child, or sibling of the <span class="dictionary">victim</span>.</p></section></text><history>1990, c. 549; 1992, c. 681.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
