						<section><p>The provisions of this chapter shall not be construed to prohibit or apply to the acceptance by (i) any <span class="dictionary">employee</span> of a local government, or (ii) a teacher or other <span class="dictionary">employee</span> of a local school board of an award or payment in honor of meritorious or exceptional services performed by the teacher or <span class="dictionary">employee</span> and made by an organization exempt from federal income taxation pursuant to the provisions of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.</p></section></text><history>2001, c. 48, &#xA7; 2.1-639.4:2; 2008, cc. 478, 497.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
