						<section><p>The authority of the <span class="dictionary">court</span> to suspend sentences under &#xA7;&#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Probation on order directing defendant to pay and enter recognizance" href="/20-72/">20-72</a> to <a class="law" title="Effect of divorce proceedings" href="/20-79/">20-79</a> may be exercised at any time after <span class="dictionary">conviction</span> and before the completion of the sentence, and as often as the <span class="dictionary">court</span> may deem advisable and to the best interests of the parties, provided that such period or periods of time as may be actually served by the <span class="dictionary">defendant</span> shall be allowed against and deducted from the original sentence.</p></section></text><history>Code 1919, &#xA7; 1939; 1932, p. 467; 1940, p. 477; 1974, c. 464.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
