						<section><p>A <span class="dictionary">referendum</span> as provided in &#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Alternative for biennial county supervisor elections and staggered terms" href="/24.2-219/">24.2-219</a> or &#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Reversion to quadrennial elections" href="/24.2-220/">24.2-220</a> shall be held only in the year preceding the year in which a <span class="dictionary">general election</span> for supervisors is to be held. Once a <span class="dictionary">referendum</span> on either question is held, no further <span class="dictionary">referendum</span> on either question may be held in the county for a period of four years.</p></section></text><history>Code 1950, &#xA7; 24-157; 1968, c. 639; 1970, c. 462, &#xA7; 24.1-88; 1971, Ex.
