						<section><p>All <span class="dictionary">shellfish</span> in the shell imported or transported into Virginia for processing or consumption within the Commonwealth shall have a certificate from the appropriate agency of the state of origin that the <span class="dictionary">shellfish</span> came from clean, approved areas of water of that state. <span class="dictionary">Shellfish</span> which are not accompanied by such certificate are deemed to have come from polluted waters; shall not be sold or processed for consumption within Virginia; and shall be replanted in compliance with the provisions of this chapter, destroyed or returned to the state of origin.</p></section></text><history>1962, c. 406, &#xA7; 28.1-182; 1992, c. 836.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
