						<section><p>The <span class="dictionary">Board</span> shall adopt policies governing the pruning and trimming of trees during nonemergency conditions by the employees, agents, and contractors of the <span class="dictionary">Department</span> of Transportation in <span class="dictionary">order</span> to preserve roadside trees that do not adversely affect <span class="dictionary">highway</span> operations, <span class="dictionary">maintenance</span>, or safety. Such policies shall be developed in consultation with an advisory group whose members shall include representatives of the <span class="dictionary">Department</span> of Transportation, the <span class="dictionary">Department</span> of Forestry, Scenic Virginia, and the American Society of Consulting Arborists and shall be consistent with generally accepted standards recommended by nationally recognized organizations, including the American National Standards Institute.</p></section></text><history>2001, c. 169, &#xA7; 33.1-371.2; 2014, c. 805.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
