						<section><p>Nothing contained in this article shall be construed to authorize or require a license of a <span class="dictionary">provider</span> to establish, maintain and operate, or have charge of any service for the care and treatment of persons by the practice of the religious tenets of any church in the ministration to the sick and suffering by mental or spiritual means without the use of any drug or <span class="dictionary">material</span> remedy, whether gratuitously or for compensation, provided the <span class="dictionary">statutes</span> and regulations on sanitation and safety are complied with.</p></section></text><history>Code 1950, &#xA7; 37-259; 1960, c. 496; 1968, c. 477, &#xA7; 37.1-188; 1976, c. 671; 2001, cc. 486, 506; 2005, c. 716.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
