						<section><p>&#x201C;Workers&#x2019; compensation and employers&#x2019; liability <span class="dictionary">insurance</span>&#x201D; means <span class="dictionary">insurance</span> against the legal liability of any employer for the death or disablement of, or injury to, his or its employee whether imposed by <span class="dictionary">common law</span> or by <span class="dictionary">statute</span>, or assumed by <span class="dictionary">contract</span>.
		Employers&#x2019; liability <span class="dictionary">insurance</span> may include appropriate provisions obligating the <span class="dictionary">insurer</span> to pay medical, chiropractic, hospital, surgical, and funeral expenses arising out of the death or injury of an employee, regardless of any legal liability of the insured.</p></section></text><history>1952, c. 317, &#xA7; 38.1-17; 1986, c. 562.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
