						<section><p>Whenever any <span class="dictionary">insurer</span> on a policy or <span class="dictionary">contract</span> of bodily injury or property damage liability <span class="dictionary">insurance</span> relating to the ownership, maintenance, or use of a motor vehicle compromises, settles and discharges a claim made by a <span class="dictionary">person</span> other than the named insured that arose in connection with a motor vehicle accident involving an automobile covered by such policy or <span class="dictionary">contract</span>, the <span class="dictionary">insurer</span>, upon request by a named insured shall advise every named insured of the compromise, <span class="dictionary">settlement</span> and discharge of the claim.</p></section></text><history>2002, c. 405.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
