						<section><p>Reinstatement of a life <span class="dictionary">insurance</span> policy shall not affect the running of the contestable period except as provided in this section. A life <span class="dictionary">insurance</span> policy reinstated after July 1, 1986, regardless of whether the original policy was issued before or after July 1, 1986, shall be contestable on account of <span class="dictionary">fraud</span> or misrepresentation of any <span class="dictionary">material</span> <span class="dictionary">fact</span> pertaining to the reinstatement contained in a written application for reinstatement, or in any written statement supplemental to the application for reinstatement, only for the same period after reinstatement as the policy provides for contestability after original <span class="dictionary">issue</span>.</p></section></text><history>Code 1950, &#xA7; 38-366.1; 1950, p. 181; 1952, c. 317, &#xA7; 38.1-440; 1986, c. 562.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
