						<section><p>The <span class="dictionary">Commissioner</span>, upon application made by the <span class="dictionary">owner</span> or <span class="dictionary">operator</span> of <span class="dictionary">vehicles</span> used to transport tree-length logs, shall <span class="dictionary">issue</span> a permit authorizing the operation on the <span class="dictionary"><span class="dictionary">highways</span></span> of such <span class="dictionary">vehicles</span> in excess of lengths authorized in Article 16 (&#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Length of vehicles, generally; special permits; vehicle combinations, etc., operating on certain highways; penalty" href="/46.2-1112/">46.2-1112</a> et seq.) of this chapter. Such permit shall be issued in accordance with regulations promulgated as provided in Chapter 40 (&#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Short title; purpose" href="/2.2-4000/">2.2-4000</a> et seq.) of Title 2.2, and &#xA7;&#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Traffic regulations; penalty" href="/33.2-210/">33.2-210</a> and <a class="law" title="Power and authority of Commonwealth Transportation Board relating to the Interstate System, generally" href="/33.2-300/">33.2-300</a>.</p></section></text><history>1997, c. 283; 2003, c. 314.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
