						<section id="A"><p><span class="prefix-number">A.</span> It shall be unlawful for any <span class="dictionary">person</span> to operate, offer, advertise, provide, procure, furnish, or arrange by <span class="dictionary">contract</span>, agreement, or arrangement to transport passengers for compensation as a <span class="dictionary">TNC broker</span>, broker, <span class="dictionary">motor carrier</span> or <span class="dictionary">excursion train</span> <span class="dictionary">operator</span> without first obtaining a <span class="dictionary">license</span>, <span class="dictionary">permit</span>, or <span class="dictionary">certificate</span>, unless otherwise exempted, as provided in this chapter. <a id="paragraph-208360" class="section-permalink" href="https://vacode.org/46.2-2001.1/#A"><i class="fa fa-link"/></a></p></section>
						<section id="B"><p><span class="prefix-number">B.</span> Beginning July 1, 2014, any <span class="dictionary">person</span> making application for a <span class="dictionary">license</span>, <span class="dictionary">permit</span>, or <span class="dictionary">certificate</span> pursuant to this chapter who has violated &#xA7; <a class="law" title="License, permit, or certificate required" href="/46.2-2001.1/">46.2-2001.1</a>, either as a result of a <span class="dictionary">conviction</span> or as a result of an imposition of a civil <span class="dictionary">penalty</span>, shall be denied such <span class="dictionary">license</span>, <span class="dictionary">permit</span>, or <span class="dictionary">certificate</span> for a period of 12 months from the date the final <span class="dictionary">disposition</span> of the <span class="dictionary">conviction</span> or imposition of the civil <span class="dictionary">penalty</span> has been rendered.
			The <span class="dictionary">Department</span> of <span class="dictionary">Motor Vehicles</span> shall require applicants for a <span class="dictionary">license</span>, <span class="dictionary">permit</span>, or <span class="dictionary">certificate</span> to report any <span class="dictionary">conviction</span> or imposition of civil penalties for violations of &#xA7; <a class="law" title="License, permit, or certificate required" href="/46.2-2001.1/">46.2-2001.1</a>. <a id="paragraph-208361" class="section-permalink" href="https://vacode.org/46.2-2001.1/#B"><i class="fa fa-link"/></a></p></section></text><history>2001, c. 596; 2002, c. 861; 2013, cc. 165, 582; 2017, c. 635.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
