						<section><p>All <span class="dictionary">permits</span> and certificates of fitness issued under this chapter shall be issued for a period of 12 consecutive months except, at the discretion of the <span class="dictionary">Department</span>, the periods may be adjusted as necessary. Such <span class="dictionary">permits</span> and certificates shall expire if not renewed annually. Such expiration shall be effective 30 days after the <span class="dictionary">Department</span> has provided the permittee or certificate holder notice of nonrenewal. If the <span class="dictionary">permit</span> or certificate is renewed within 30 days after notice of nonrenewal, then the <span class="dictionary">permit</span> or certificate shall not expire.</p></section></text><history>2001, c. 596; 2011, cc. 881, 889; 2017, cc. 790, 815.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
