						<section><p>Upon receipt of a proper application, an <span class="dictionary">owner</span> who sells or transfers a registered <span class="dictionary">vehicle</span> may have the <span class="dictionary">license plates</span> and registration number assigned to another <span class="dictionary">vehicle</span> titled in the name of the <span class="dictionary">owner</span>. If the <span class="dictionary">vehicle</span> requires identical registration fees, the transfer fee shall be two dollars. If the license fee required for the second <span class="dictionary">vehicle</span> requires a greater registration fee, the fee shall be two dollars plus the difference in registration fees between the two <span class="dictionary">vehicles</span>. All fees collected under the provisions of this section shall be paid by the <span class="dictionary">Commissioner</span> into the state treasury and shall be set aside as a special fund to meet the expenses of the <span class="dictionary">Department</span>.</p></section></text><history>1989, c. 727.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
