						<section><p>Except as otherwise provided by <span class="dictionary">law</span>, when crossing an <span class="dictionary">intersection</span> of <span class="dictionary"><span class="dictionary">highways</span></span> or the <span class="dictionary">intersection</span> of a <span class="dictionary">highway</span> by a railroad right-of-way, the <span class="dictionary">driver</span> of a <span class="dictionary">vehicle</span> shall drive on the right half of the <span class="dictionary">roadway</span> unless it is obstructed or impassable. When crossing an <span class="dictionary">intersection</span> of <span class="dictionary"><span class="dictionary">highways</span></span>, however, the <span class="dictionary">driver</span> of a <span class="dictionary">vehicle</span> may overtake or pass another <span class="dictionary">vehicle</span> in the <span class="dictionary">intersection</span> if such <span class="dictionary">intersection</span> is designated and marked as a passing zone.</p></section></text><history>Code 1950, &#xA7; 46-221; 1958, c. 541, &#xA7; 46.1-205; 1972, c. 369; 1978, c. 27; 1989, c. 727.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
