						<section><p>The <span class="dictionary">Director</span> shall file and preserve a copy of the <span class="dictionary">judgment</span> furnished by the clerk of the <span class="dictionary">court</span> of <span class="dictionary">conviction</span> of each prisoner and keep a register describing the term of his confinement, for what <span class="dictionary">offense</span>, and when received into a <span class="dictionary">state correctional facility</span>. The <span class="dictionary">Director</span> may dispose of these records with the consent of The Library of Virginia in accordance with retention regulations for records maintained by the <span class="dictionary">Department</span> established under the Virginia Public Records Act (&#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Legislative intent; title of chapter" href="/42.1-76/">42.1-76</a> et seq.).</p></section></text><history>Code 1950, &#xA7; 53-24; 1982, c. 636; 1994, c. 64; 2020, c. 759.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
