						<section><p>A public body of the Commonwealth that adopts standards pursuant to &#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Acceptance and distribution of electronic records by public bodies; electronic filing of information permitted" href="/59.1-496/">59.1-496</a> and the Secretary of Administration may encourage and promote consistency and interoperability with similar requirements adopted by other public bodies of the Commonwealth, other <span class="dictionary">states</span> and the federal government and nongovernmental <span class="dictionary">persons</span> interacting with public bodies of the Commonwealth. If appropriate, those standards may specify differing levels of standards from which public bodies of the Commonwealth may choose in implementing the most appropriate standard for a particular application.</p></section></text><history>2000, c. 995; 2020, c. 738.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
