						<section><p>Every <span class="dictionary">person</span> that controls one or more <span class="dictionary">Virginia financial institutions</span> (i) shall register with the <span class="dictionary">Commission</span> in accordance with procedures established by the <span class="dictionary">Commission</span> within 180 days after the date the <span class="dictionary">person</span> acquires control of a <span class="dictionary">Virginia financial institution</span>, unless the <span class="dictionary">Commission</span> allows additional time, and (ii) unless such <span class="dictionary">person</span> is a corporation chartered under the <span class="dictionary">laws</span> of Virginia, shall obtain a certificate of authority to transact business in the Commonwealth in accordance with &#xA7;&#xA0;<a class="law" title="Authority to transact business required" href="/13.1-757/">13.1-757</a>.</p></section></text><history>1978, c. 683, &#xA7; 6.1-382; 1985, c. 544; 2010, c. 794.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
