						<section><p>The <span class="dictionary">Department</span> shall implement a <span class="dictionary"><span class="dictionary">child</span>-protective services</span> differential response system in all <span class="dictionary">local departments</span>. The differential response system allows <span class="dictionary">local departments</span> to respond to valid reports or complaints of <span class="dictionary">child</span> abuse or neglect by conducting either an investigation or a family assessment. The <span class="dictionary">Department</span> shall publish a plan to implement the <span class="dictionary"><span class="dictionary">child</span>-protective services</span> differential response system in <span class="dictionary">local departments</span> by July 1, 2000, and complete implementation in all <span class="dictionary">local departments</span> by July 1, 2003. The <span class="dictionary">Department</span> shall develop a training program for all staff persons involved in the differential response system, and all such staff shall receive this training.</p></section></text><history>2000, c. 500, &#xA7; 63.1-248.2:1; 2002, c. 747.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
