						<section><p>In any case of suspected <span class="dictionary">child</span> abuse, photographs and X-rays of the <span class="dictionary">child</span> may be taken without the consent of the parent or other person responsible for such <span class="dictionary">child</span> as a part of the medical evaluation. Photographs of the <span class="dictionary">child</span> may also be taken without the consent of the parent or other person responsible for such <span class="dictionary">child</span> as a part of the investigation or family assessment of the case by the <span class="dictionary">local department</span> or the <span class="dictionary">court</span>; however, such photographs shall not be used in lieu of medical evaluation. Such photographs and X-rays may be introduced into <span class="dictionary">evidence</span> in any subsequent proceeding.
		The <span class="dictionary">court</span> receiving such <span class="dictionary">evidence</span> may impose such restrictions as to the confidentiality of photographs of any <span class="dictionary">minor</span> as it deems appropriate.</p></section></text><history>1975, c. 341, &#xA7; 63.1-248.13; 1978, c. 553; 2000, c. 500; 2002, c. 747.</history><metadata></metadata></law>
