CRIMINAL JURISDICTION; PROTECTIVE ORDERS; FAMILY OFFENSES (§ 16.1-278.14)

In cases involving the violation of any law, regulation or ordinance for the
education, protection or care of children or involving offenses committed by one
family or household member against another, the juvenile court or the circuit
court may impose a penalty prescribed by applicable sections of the Code and may
impose conditions and limitations upon the defendant to protect the health or
safety of family or household members, including, but not limited to, a
protective order as provided in § 16.1-279.1, treatment and counseling for the
defendant and payment by the defendant for crisis shelter care for the
complaining family or household member.
