BROWN V. BOARD OF EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM CREATED; PURPOSE (§ 30-231.1)

There is hereby created, from such funds made available for this purpose, the
Brown v. Board of Education Scholarship Program, hereinafter referred to as the
&#8220;Program.&#8221; The Program shall be established for the purpose of
assisting students who were enrolled in the public schools of Virginia between
1954 and 1964, in jurisdictions in which the public schools were closed to avoid
desegregation, in obtaining: the adult high school diploma; a passing score on a
high school equivalency examination approved by the Board of Education;
College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) credit; career or technical education
or training in an approved program at a comprehensive community college or at an
accredited career and technical education postsecondary school in the
Commonwealth; an undergraduate degree from an accredited
associate-degree-granting or baccalaureate (i) private institution of higher
education or (ii) public institution of higher education; a graduate degree at
the masters or doctoral level; or a professional degree from an accredited
baccalaureate private institution of higher education in the Commonwealth or
baccalaureate public institution of higher education in the Commonwealth.
