REPORTS TO COMMISSIONER OF DISCHARGE OF INDIVIDUALS FROM STATE FACILITIES (§
46.2-401)

Whenever practicable, at least 10 days prior to the time when any individual is
to be discharged from any facility operated or licensed by the Department of
Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, if the mental condition of the
individual is, because of mental illness, intellectual disability, alcoholism,
or drug addiction, in the judgment of the director or chief medical officer of
the facility such as to prevent him from being competent to drive a motor
vehicle with safety to persons and property, the director or chief medical
officer shall forthwith report to the Commissioner, in sufficient detail for
accurate identification, the date of discharge of the individual, together with
a statement concerning his ability to drive a motor vehicle.
